Q: What materials do you like to use to make your illustrations?
A: My paintings are done with watercolor, acrylic, and colored pencils. I like to use Staedtler colored pencils, Sennelier watercolor paints, and Fabriano watercolor paper- but I also love using anything that’s handy when I’m on the road.
Q: Who are some of your inspirations?
A: I have always loved the book, HARRIET THE SPY- it’s by far my favorite book, from when I first read it at the age of 10. I remember waking up early in my sister’s trundle bed (a think of the 90’s I guess) and read it for 4 hours until breakfast because I was loving it so much. Artistically, I love Shaun Tan, who is brilliant, Isabelle Arsenault, Lane Smith, Van Gogh, the folk artists of early America, and Lisa Congdon.
Q: Are you open to commissions?
A: Generally I am open! I have to be picky based on time, but if it’s the right fit and I have an open schedule, I am always happy to work with someone and make their vision come to fruition!
