So this is a new technique for me, and I'll need to perfect it, but I watched a tutorial on how to ink in Illustrator and I was blown away.  I guess I've never invested in these tools with enough time or money to really get what I wanted out of them.  And, I had no idea what I was missing.  I was using CS2 until I got hired and only because I thought I couldn't afford a new version.  What I didn't think about was how it waiting was probably holding me back.

I'm working on a movie poster spoof for RethinkDB right now.  It's great because I chose a style I want to learn and am walking myself through the process as I complete the poster. There are so many tutorials out there, it's madness.

I also played around today and made a type face from my own handwriting.  I was all giddy over it until my co-worker pointed out my kerning was off.  He was right.  I have to much to learn, and these guys I work with, although they're programmers and not artists, they are constantly surprising me with hard core constructive feedback.  And that just goes to show that I'm assuming poorly, and that I have a great team behind me that will help me get better!!  How cool is that?

Here's a website to create a new font: http://www.myscriptfont.com/  Easy as pie.

Have fun!
